Campaign to Stop The Arsenal Emirates Stadium becoming a Controlled Drinking ZoneManifesto Club members are among those campaigning against a proposed booze ban around the Arsenal Emirates Stadium in north London. This is another example the wider trend we identified and began campaigning around last summer. It is also an opportunity to rally opposition ahead of Freedom Summer. A campaign group has been set up on Facebook 'Islington Council has started consultation with the residents around the Emirates Stadium to turn the area into a controlled drinking zone, which would give the police extra powers to stop people and confiscate drinks. This is a power that the police don't need, if someone is causing trouble they can already deal with them with the powers they already have. If you have friends who live around the Emirates Stadium, encourage them to write the council on licensing@islington.gov.uk opposing this measure.'
